Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Oscar Piastri is the 2020 Formula 3 and 2021 Formula 2 World Champion. After missing out on a drive for the 2022 season, Oscar joined McLaren for the 2023 F1 World Championship to race alongside Lando Norris.
In his Rookie season, Oscar finished 9th in the World Championship, won his first Sprint race (Qatar) and finished on the Podium in 3rd position in his first feature race in Japan. Oscar was voted F1 Rookie of the Year in 2023 and has gained much respect from his peers in the paddock & race fans worldwide.
Oscar claimed the feature race victory in Hungary, his 1st in F1. Starting from 2nd on the grid, Oscar beat his teammate & the Charging Bull of Max Verstappen who were running three abreast into turn 1. Norris pitted first during the second round of stops, seemingly to cover off Lewis Hamilton but which also gave him the advantage to take the lead over team mate Piastri which many saw as unfair. Norris ultimately followed team orders and gave back the lead to Oscar on lap 68 of 70 which saw the Australian take his first F1 Victory.
