Nicky Hayden nicknamed “The Kentucky Kid” was born in Owensboro, Kentucky July 30th, 1981. He began racing Flat Track at a very young age and has moved through the ranks of professional Motor-cycle racing with much success. Nicky was crowned the 2002 AMA Superbike Champion before moving to the premier class of racing “MotoGP” in 2003 with the Factory backed HRC Repsol Honda Team. Nicky won his first MotoGP race in front of his home crowd at Laguna Seca in 2005.
Heading into the last race of the 2006 season in Valencia, “The Kentucky Kid” had his chance to realize a life long dream. When Rossi fell on lap five, Hayden knew he only had to bring his Honda safely over the line to secure the title.
Nicky has personally signed this very unique photo which is limited to only 69 worldwide. It captures him racing during qualifying at the 2006 Chinese Grand Prix. His reflection in the road, and spray from the tires really make this a fantastic photo. A race which was won by his team mate Dani Pedrosa, his first in the Premier MotoGP Class. Nicky finished in second position and took an early lead in the MotoGP World Championship.
