In 1978, Kenny Roberts Snr. became the first American to win a 500cc Grand Prix Motorcycle World Championship. He is also a two time winner of the AMA Grand National Championship and one of only four riders in AMA history to win the AMA Grand Slam, representing Grand National wins at a mile, half mile, short-track, TT Steeplechase and road race events. Roberts is also the 1979 & 1980 500cc World Champion.
Roberts showed a natural talent for dirt track racing and began winning local races. In 1968, his race results drew the attention of a local Suzuki dealer Bud Aksland, who offered to sponsor Roberts aboard a Suzuki motorcycle. He made the decision to drop out of high school before his senior year to pursue a career in motorcycle racing. Roberts was allowed to compete professionally when he turned 18, and on the day after his eighteenth birthday, he entered his first professional race at San Francisco’s Cow Palace finishing in fourth place.

This extremely rare & genuine hand made Aluminum seat was raced with by Kenny Roberts on various occasions on his Yamaha 250cc. As confirmed by Kenny, he also raced this in 1977 at the Houston Short Track. It has been beautifully presented with this high quality acrylic display unit which includes a photo of Kenny racing with this seat unit in 1977. The photo has been attached to the base of the acrylic and looks striking to complete this one of a kind display for this very special piece from Kenny’s racing history.
