In 1978, Kenny Roberts Snr. became the first American to win a 500cc Grand Prix Motorcycle World Championship. He is also a two time winner of the AMA Grand National Championship and one of only four riders in AMA history to win the AMA Grand Slam, representing Grand National wins at a mile, half mile, short-track, TT Steeplechase and road race events. Roberts is also the 1979 & 1980 500cc World Champion.

The Transatlantic series, or also known as the Anglo-American match races started in 1971 and raced through 1991. The series didn’t really take off until 1974 when a young American named Kenny Roberts Snr made his debut in Europe for the first time. A battle of the best North American v British riders which raced at various circuits in the UK over the years. The series also introduced Wayne Rainey & Kevin Schwantz in 1987.

Kenny Roberts Snr. has personally signed this photo on canvas which captures him racing during the 1976 Transatlantic race in Oulton Park. Team USA won the 76 series and this beautiful canvas photo has been released in an edition of only 50 worldwide.
