Driving the Ferrari 158, John Surtees scored the opening victory in his Championship winning season at the German Grand Prix, August 2nd, 1964. This beautiful art work by World renown artist Nicholas Watts, depicts him exiting the Adenau Bridge on the daunting Nurburgring Circuit, leading the Brabham of Dan Gurney, with Clark’s Lotus and the BRM of Graham Hill following.

John Surtees remains the only person to have won both the F1 World Championship (1964) as well as the 500cc Motorcycle World Championship, (1956, 1958, 1959 & 1960). After a dramatic ending at the final race of the 1964 season, Surtees finished on the Podium in 2nd position behind race winner Dan Gurney. It was enough to ensure Surtees was crowned the 1964 World Champion while racing with the Scuderia Ferrari Team.
