Sparing no expense, Ford scored a historic victory at LeMans in 1966. The Shelby-American entered GT40 MK 2 driven by Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren was declared the winner, breaking the 3000 mile /125 mph barrier for the first time. The dead-eat that was planned by Henry Ford 2nd was technically impossible since the cars had started 20 meters apart.
