Born in 1958, Eddie Lawson received his first Motorcycle (80cc Yamaha) at age seven. He made his World Championship debut in 1983 racing a Factory backed 500cc Yamaha alongside fellow American Kenny Roberts Snr. He continued with Yamaha in 1984 and won four races, finished 2nd on four occasions and 3rd once. These results over a 12 round series ensured Eddie became World Champion.

This Full Speed photo captures Eddie racing at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium during his first 500cc Championship winning season.
