Born in Monaco, Leclerc is the 2016 GP3 World Champion and 2017 FIA Formula 2 World Champion. Leclerc arrived in Formula 1 in 2018 driving with the newly re-branded Alfa Romeo Sauber Team. In 2019 Leclerc joined the prestigious Scuderia Ferrari Team and won his first race at Spa. He backed this up a week later with victory on Ferrari’s home turf at Monza.
Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1939 out of the Alfa Romeo race division as Auto Avio Costruzioni, the company built its first car in 1940, and produced its first Ferrari-badged car in 1947. Scuderia Ferrari has participated in several classes of motorsport, though it’s currently only officially involved in Formula One. Ferrari is the only team to have competed in the Formula One World Championship continuously since its inception in 1950, it’s first Grand Prix being at Monaco. José Froilán González gave the team its first F1 victory at the 1951 British Grand Prix and Alberto Ascari gave Ferrari its first Drivers Championship a year later. Ferrari is the oldest team in the championship, and the most successful holding the most constructors championships (16) and having produced the highest number of drivers’ championship wins.
In 2020 at the Mugello Grand Prix in Italy, Ferrari achieved an incredible milestone, racing in it’s 1000th Formula 1 Grand Prix.
