Ayrton Senna was a Brazilian race car driver who won three Formula 1 World Championships; 1988, 1990 & 1991 with Marlboro McLaren. He was tragically killed in an accident while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. Senna has often been voted as one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time in various Motorsport Polls. Senna holds a record six victories at the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix and was also acclaimed for his driving performances in wet weather conditions.
This artwork, by famed racing artist Nicholas Watts, captures Senna racing against Piquet during the 1987 Monza Grand Prix. The Lotus Honda of Ayrton Senna runs wide at Parabolica while trying an inside overtake on Piquet. This handed Nelson Piquet in his Williams Honda the victory, and ultimately providing him with his third driver’s World Championship title.
This special release has been personally hand signed by artist Nicholas Watts as well as the great Ayrton Senna, the signatures are not copies, they are original. The artwork is an official reproduction from the original painting by Nicholas.
