Born in Vasto, Italy, Iannone like many riders started his career on Pocket Bikes. His World Championship debut came in 2005, and his first win was on a 125cc racing at the Chinese GP in Shanghai. Racing his way through various categories, Iannone joins the Factory Ducati Team in 2015 and becomes team mate to fellow Italian Andrea Dovizioso.
