Alex Rins secured his first MotoGP victory during the RedBull Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, Texas. By doing so, Rins became the first rider to win all three World Championship races at COTA, having won Moto3 in 2013 and Moto2 in 2016. Starting from 7th on the grid, Rins worked his way through the field, eventually passing Rossi with 4 laps to go to take the lead. Despite a late attack from Rossi, Rins was able to hold on to secure the victory.
