Wayne Rainey was born on the 23rd of October 1960 in Downey, California. He began his career in the AMA Grand National Championship, racing both dirt track and road racing events. Entering Grand Prix in 1988, Wayne earned a reputation for his smooth riding style. Between 1990 and 1992 he won three consecutive 500cc World Championships, before a tragic crash in 1993 left him paralyzed from the chest down. He remains involved in the racing paddock, and is undoubtedly one of the greatest American riders of all time.
